Meșter Labs is an independent software studio in Scotland. It's one person for now, building a small number of tools and building them properly.

The name

meșter

/ˈmeʃ.ter/ · Romanian · noun

A master craftsman: someone who makes things by hand and makes them well. The comma under the ș is the small detail that makes the word what it is, and our mark is that comma being struck into place.

Who's behind it

Eduard

Meșter Labs is run by Eduard, a maker who came to software from buildings and machines. He designs with manufacturing in mind and likes taking an idea all the way from a sketch to something real.

Shadowlap started as the personal system he built to run his own weeks of study, projects and ventures. It's now being turned into an app anyone can use.

How we work

A few rules at the bench.

Used before it ships
Every build gets a week of daily use by its maker before anyone else sees it.
Your data is yours
Stored on your device, exportable at any time, deleted for good when you leave.
No shame mechanics
No red badges, no streaks to lose. Falling short is an attempt, not a failure.
Small on purpose
A few tools, kept sharp, rather than many kept average.
