Adrenaline for
the boring stuff.

Shadowlap is a phone app that turns every task into a time trial against your own estimate. You beat your ghost or you don't, and both are logged as attempts.

Illustration, not a screenshot.

The problem

To-do lists judge you.

They record intentions and then judge you on them. The list only grows, every unticked item reads as a failure, and the red badge is the whole emotional range. Shadowlap changes the unit of work: a task is a run against an estimate you set yourself.

  • It makes boring work a game you can win in the next twenty minutes.
  • It teaches you how long things really take.
  • It removes the shame. Going over is amber and logged, never red, never a streak lost.

How it works

Four words to learn.

Ghost
Your estimate, running alongside you.
Run
One attempt against its ghost: finish it, bank it and go a second round, or abandon it.
Lap
Your day, from brief to debrief. Its ghost is the sum of the day's tasks.
Mark
A date on the horizon, with the days left as the number you race.

Who it's for

Single-player, by design.

The only person you race is your own shadow. No teams, no managers, no leaderboards.

The builder-student

Studies, a team project and a venture or two, with deadlines in three places. Wants one place for all of it, and a way to start the dull task now.

The racer

Competitive with themself: runners, climbers, gym-goers, sim racers. Wants a stopwatch for work, with deltas instead of ticks.

The overwhelmed

Knows what to do but can't start. Wants permission to do one thing for twenty minutes and have it count.

Inside the app

Five places, one day.

Command

Today's lap: what's due, quick add, and the ghost on every row.

Vector

The live run. Race the ghost, take a second round, or log it and move on.

Ops

Projects, phases and tasks, with an inbox for anything not yet filed.

Horizon

Deadlines as marks, ranked by importance, with the days left in front of you.

Calendar and Capture

Everything due in one view, and a quick way to catch an idea and send it to the right project.

Your data

Yours, on your phone.

  • Your tasks live on your device, with your own private space for sync across your devices.
  • Export everything at any time.
  • Deleting your account deletes your data, after offering you an export.
  • No ads. No selling data.

Availability

iPhone first.

Shadowlap is in a private alpha on iPhone now. Android follows. Command and Vector will be free forever; a Pro plan with sync and the wider toolset is planned for launch.
